Getting Paid
Understand the payment process for secure, verified transactions.
Secure Payments
Never hand over the keys or title until you have confirmed the dealer's payment has cleared.
Selling to a Dealer
When you accept a cash offer from a verified dealer, the dealer will typically pay you via certified bank check, wire transfer, or direct ACH deposit at the time of vehicle pickup or drop-off. The exact payment method will be outlined in your final purchase agreement.
Handling Auto Loans (Negative Equity)
If you owe more on your loan than the vehicle is worth (negative equity), you will need to pay the difference to the purchasing dealer. This is usually done via cashier's check or wire transfer at closing. The dealer will then combine your payment with their purchase amount to fully pay off your lender.
